A different kind of healing space.
Trauma-informed care
We recognize that pain doesn't always start in the body. Your history, your experiences, and the weight of the systems that aren’t built for you to thrive, all live in your nervous system. We take the time to understand that before anything else.
Relationship before treatment
We're not here to move bones and send you on your way. Every session is built on genuine connection with your practitioner and your body. You'll leave with a deeper understanding of what your body has been trying to tell you.
Indigenous-led and decolonized care

A space that feels nothing like a clinic.
We know that for a lot of people, walking into a clinical space carries its own weight. Bright lights, cold tables, rushed appointments… for many, especially those who have experienced trauma or felt unseen by conventional medicine, that environment alone can be a barrier to healing.
The Effect is different by design. Our space in Ottawa's Glebe neighbourhood is warm, homey, and unhurried. A place where you, your kids or your whole family can arrive exactly as you are.
As an Indigenous-led practice, we believe healing is your birthright, not a privilege. That your health is not just about you, but about the people before you and the generations that will follow. Small steps toward your wellbeing today can create ripple effects your family will feel for years to come.

Yes. The Effect is designed to support the whole family, from pregnancy and postpartum recovery to infant care, children's wellness, and beyond. -
Yes. We offer several services that are safe and supportive for infants and children, including infant massage, reflexology, and lymphatic drainage. These are gentle, non-invasive therapies that can help with sleep, comfort, digestion, tension, and well-being. Many families find it easier to support their child's health in the same space where they receive their own care.

Your first visit starts with a conversation. Dr. Sadie takes the time to understand your history, your pain, and what you are hoping to gain. From there, she will walk you through her approach and what she recommends. Everything moves at your pace, and nothing happens without your understanding and consent. Many people who were nervous about chiropractic find the experience very different from what they expected.
-
Yes. Prenatal chiropractic care is safe throughout all stages of pregnancy and can be an extremely effective way to manage the physical changes your body goes through. We are Webster Technique certified, a gentle approach to rebalancing muscles, ligaments, and joints so you and baby are best prepared for birth. At The Effect, we use techniques adapted to your stage of pregnancy and your comfort level. No cracking necessary if it is not for you.
-
Trauma-informed care means your practitioner takes the time to understand how your life experiences can show up in your body as pain, tension, or disconnection. This includes recognizing the impacts of colonial violence, systemic inequity, and the unseen stress of being marginalized or BIPOC. It means slowing down to build a real relationship with you before anything else, and creating space for your body's story, not just your symptoms.

A Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN) takes a whole-person approach to nutrition, looking at how food, lifestyle, mindset, and environment all affect your health. A Registered Dietitian (RD) is a regulated health profession with different licensing and training. Because of this distinction, holistic nutrition services may not be covered by your insurance plan. We recommend checking with your provider before booking.
-
Some of our services may be covered by extended health benefits. We recommend checking with your insurance provider ahead of your appointment to confirm your coverage. Feel free to contact us if you have questions about what to ask.
-
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on technique that works with the rhythm of the fluid surrounding your brain and spinal cord to release tension and support your nervous system. It is particularly effective for headaches, migraines, chronic pain, and nervous system dysregulation. It is one of the gentlest approaches we offer and is suitable during pregnancy and for children.
