FAQ

  • Where do I park?

We have free on-site parking in front of The Effect in the lot that says for units 149-151 Second Avenue. This is usually available unless at busy lunch and dinner times.

Alternatively, parking on Second Avenue is free for 2 hours.

There is also paid parking in the City of Ottawa parking garage across the street, in front of the building or on Bank Street.

  • Do you direct bill insurance?

We do not offer direct billing at this time. However, we provide detailed receipts that can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement, depending on your coverage.

  • What happens during the first visit?

Your first visit involves a comprehensive assessment to uncover the root causes of your symptoms and to ensure safe, individualized care. This includes:

    - A detailed review of your health and medical history

    - Neurological function testing (HRV, posture, balance)

    - Orthopaedic and spinal mobility testing

    - Advanced spinal analysis

    - X-ray imaging if clinically indicated (performed off-site and covered by OHIP)

We’ll go over the findings and recommend a tailored care plan based on your goals and current health.

  • How much does it cost?

Please call our front desk for up-to-date pricing details. We believe in transparent, accessible care and offer options to suit different needs. We also encourage people to book a free 15-minute consultation to explore whether our approach is the right fit for them.

  • Is chiropractic care safe?

Yes, chiropractic care is very safe when delivered by a licensed and experienced practitioner. At our clinic, we prioritize nervous system function and use gentle, specific techniques to support your body’s natural ability to heal. Every new client begins with a thorough initial assessment to ensure care is both safe and effective for your individual needs.

  • How often will I need to come in?

Your care frequency depends on your goals, stress levels, and current health. Most people begin care 1–3 times per week during the initial phase of nervous system repair. As your body adapts and heals, we gradually reduce visit frequency to support long-term wellness and prevention.

  • How do I know what service is best for me?

Choosing the right service starts with a conversation. We offer free 15-minute consultations with one of our practitioners to learn more about your needs and guide you toward the most aligned care plan. You can call us directly to book this no-obligation chat.

  • What techniques do you use?

Our clinic specializes in gentle, neurologically-based chiropractic care with an emphasis on whole-person healing. Techniques include:

Upper Cervical: a precise method for adjusting the top bones of the spine and brainstem

SOT (Sacral-Occipital Technique): to support pelvic stability, cranial motion, and cerebrospinal fluid flow

NET (Neuro-Emotional Technique): for addressing unprocessed stress and trauma in the body

Cranial Work: to support alignment of the skull bones and their influence on the nervous system

Tonal Chiropractic: gentle, frequency-based methods that help regulate and optimize nervous system tone

  • What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle, hands-on (or hands-above) healing technique that supports the body’s natural ability to regulate and heal itself. It works with your energy field to reduce stress, release blocks, and restore balance across body, mind, and spirit. Reiki comes from a Japanese lineage, and at our clinic, we offer it with full respect to its roots while integrating it in a trauma-informed and wholistic care model.
